Italian and Spanish Troop Concentrations; British Precautions

London, Apr. 17.

Transfer of troops from Palestine to Egypt, and the dispatch of the Welsh Guards to Gibraltar, indicate the close watch which Britain, together with France, is keeping on the Mediterranean and Spain, states the Diplomatic Correspondent of "The Times." Evidence, he states, is growing regarding the large amount of German equipment that has arrived at naval ports on the northwest coast of Spain, and at aerodromes.

All reports of Italian movements in Spain the correspondent goes on, are being closely examined. Particularly, he declares, is it being asked when exactly the triumphal march of the Italians through Madrid is to take place. The first date suggested, the correspondent points out, was April 20; then May 2; and now May 15. Clearly, he adds, the British Government is bound to consider these changes "completely unsatisfactory. "—Reuter.
