Thoughts on Unorthodoxy

To the Editor of the "NortH-Cutwa Dairy News"

Sm,—Aíter reading all the alibis and excuses for the Corinthians, all I can say is that if unorthodox football wins games where carpet football does not, then give me unorthodox football every time.

I wonder what excuses were used when the Corinthians lost to Manila where they did not go directly off a ship to play their game and also not handicapped by a wet ground. (Shanghai of course was not handicapped by the wet ground).

The Continentals play unorthodox football, that maybe is the reason why English teams so seldom beat them; take for instance the 1936 Olympics. The same conditions prevail amongst English boxers, who are noted for their scientific style, but who are the world champions?

Locally the A. S. F. champions of the Ist. League, certainly do not play carpet football and in the 2nd. League the "French Forces" and "Savoia," both being noted for their unorthodox play, have not lost a game in their league.

Personally, I am of the opinion that it is about time the English change from "pretty" football to "effective" football, then they may be able to score a few goals when they come up against teams that play unorthodox football.
