MARINES WILL FACE THE DURHAMS' BEST

The big rugger fixtures this weekend will be played on Sunday. The outstanding match will see the Shanghai Rugby Union Football Cbib's lst XV meeting the Royal Welch Fusiliers' Ist XV on Sunday morning at the Canidrome in a charity affair, The admission charge will be $1 (men in uniform free) and the entire proceeds will be donated to charity. To the Fusiliers, who are leaving Shanghai at the end of the month, will be presented a mascot by jhe President of St. David's Society at halt time, The Welshmen are likely to prove too strong for the Club, but whichever team wins, some highly interesting rugger is expected to delight the spectators.

The other big game of the weekend will find the best team of the U.S.. Marines facing the 1st XV of the "Durham Light Infantry on the Race Course Sunday afternoon beginning at 3 p.m. The last time the two teams met, the "Leathernecks" surprised the city's rugger public by holding the vaunted Infantrymen to a meagre 3-0 victory. On Sunday, the Marines will either confirm their good reports or show that their first appearance was something of a flash in the pan, The Durhams will, of course, be again favoured, but just what the Marines can do against them this time is a question likely to draw a large crowd of spectators, The French Army side, who beat the Area Details in their first pearance last week-end, will face a stronger side on Sunday afternoon vhen they tackle the D.LI. 2nd XV.

peed and spirit were much in e dence when the Frenchmen won last Sunday.

Saturday will take care of the minor games on the programme, chief interest being likely to focus on the meeting of the Club's 2nd XV with the Fusiliers' 2nd XV. On the same day, good things are expected of the US, Marines' 2nd XV in their battle against Area Details.
