Rising superbly to the occasion and now very definitely on the road back since their defeat at the hands of the Sixth Regiment U.S. Marines, the Triangle Motors five gave the officers of the "Galloping Sixth" a deadly blow last night when the Chinese cagers came out winners by a score of 53-46.
Until last night, the Marine Officers were the only unbeaten team in the Foreign Y.M.C.A. Invitation League. Now, as the result of the success gained by the Tri-Motorists, the league has become an open affa four teams being tied for leadership. The Triangulars achieved their victory through application of as fine a fighting spirit as has been seen in the invitation series and through almost fanatical devotion to each detail of the work in hand.
The first half was, without question, the officers' game. The defence air tight and the Chinese were ning into a stone wall. But upon the change-over, the motor team immediately came back to earth and tore their rivals to parts, leading at one time by 48-33. Darwin Chow was the hero of the game, scoring nine times. Williams stood out for the losers with seven tallies. These two stars were practically the whole game in the first half as the former netted seven and the latter six. The leads, however, passed to N, H. Feng and Hortsowith in the second half when each of them sank five buckets.
