The plan for the realization of world-domination by Germany was completely worked out by Dr. Haus-hoter long before Hitler seized power. Dr. Haushofer's argument, briefly stated, comes down to this:
The enormous technical progress made in the fields of communication and armament requires a revolutionary change in international, political and economic relationships. In the light of technical progress, the world can no longer afford to remain divided into a large number of economically independent national states jealously guarding their autarchic institutions and their sovereignty; the more so, since the whole human race could acquire enormous benefit and well-being from a unified, directed economy. The world's entire economic structure is antiquated, and because it has lost its usefulness must £o by the board.
Dr. Haushofer's thesis further describes Britain and the United States as imperialistic powers who now control the wealth of the world and exploit it for their own enrichment, and can never be made to give up voluntarily even a particle of their ill-gotten gains. Consequently Germany must step in and, for the sake Of all the earth's inhabitants, make the Anglo-Saxons relinquish their stranglehold on world trade, even if they have to be destroyed in the process. Then only can the German reign of peace and justice be instituted; then only will the golden age of human history, for which all the dreamers and prophets have prayed and hoped, dawn at last.
Dr. Haushofer, after urging Hitler to place all the material and spiritual resources of Germany under ceniralized control and thus to forge the Reich into one single striking force as a preliminary step to the subjugation of the European continent, has planned ahead for the days to follow "the first phase of triumph." When the European industrial and military forces are finally mobilized under German direction, the conquest of the American continent is to commence.
