Bishop Sees Difficult Times for Japan Thoughtful Japanese Now

"Deeply Troubled"

Kansas City, May 1.

Bishop Arthur J. Moore of San Antonio Texas, for six years rector in the Orient for the Methodist Episcopal Church South, said yesterday that Japan may regret that her Army ever set foot in China.

Addressing the Methodist conference here in which the three branches of the church are being united, His hop Moore said that the "cost in men. and money for Japan in prosecuting her war in China is proving a heavy drain on Japan's national resources."

"Today thoughtful Japanese are in a deeply troubled mood," he said. "Their nation is waging a life or death struggle and undoubtedly is facing the greatest crisis in its long history. Some day the leaders of their nation may regret bitterly that their Army ever set foot in China."—United Press.
