After a lapse of payments since the beginning of 1935, the Ethiopian Government has sent the League of Nations a cheque for a portion "of the arrears of its contribution, which is fixed at 57,000 francs yearly.
This belated. payment at a time when the Council is about to consider the question of the recognition, or otherwise, of the Italian conquest of Abyssinia has embarrassed League authorities, Additional embarrassment will be caused by the presence of the Ethiopian delegate at the forthcoming meeting of the Council.—Reuter.
