Tokyo, Feb. 1 Dr. Kotaro Tapaka, professor of commercial education at the Imperial University, came into the limelight to-day as the result of the severe criticism of his book, "Law, Religion and Social Life," by Viscount Keiko Kenkyukai in the plenary session in the Upper House.
The Viscount pointed out in an interpellation that the professor had said in his book: "It is not good to make the nation as a whole worship at shrines, The best method would be to discontinue the habits of clementary schools, which worship at shrines in groups."
"Terming the passages as "running counter to the spirit of the national policy," the Viscount urged the Government to mete out proper treatment to the Professor, The Home Minister, Admiral N. Suetsugu, and the Minister of Educa-.|tion, Marquis Kido, both promised to take proper steps after making a careful investigation.—Reuter.
