Amoy, May 23.
Landing of bluejackets at Kulangsu by Britain, France and the United States caused an unpleasant situation was disclosed here today.
Mr. Uchida filed a counter-protest to the Consular Body's reply of May 19 concerning the' Japanese five-point demands for reorganization of the Kulangsu Municipal Council.
Just when the Japanese Naval Landing Party on Kulangsu had been trying to ameliorate the state of affairs there and had been planning to withdraw in a few days, as the Consular Body had been notified, and at a time when the Japanese Consul-General. requested that appeals for landing of bluejackets be cancelled, the foreign authorities "ignored" the Japanese request, the note stated.
This action on the part of foreign authorities of ignoring the Japanese view had produced a very unpleasant effect and it was considered an unfriendly act toward Japan, the protest declared.—Domei.
