Fighting Near Nanchang

While engaged in mopping-up operations in the areas north-west of Nanchang along the Nanchang-Kiukiang Railway several Japanese detachments routed about 600 Chinese stragglers of the newly organized 9th Division in the vicinity of Kohsienmiao, 14 kilometres north-west of the Kiangsi capital. The Japanese attacked from Machwang and Tutsun in two directions.

The Chinese left 219 slain. The Japanese discovered caves in which they had stored arms and ammunition and seized 688 trench mortar shells, 1.123 anti-tank shells and large quantities of other supplies.—Domei.
