Sweden Ready to Fight 4 If Attacked

Nation Prepared to Take Up Arms for Independence

Stockholm, Apr. 3.

"If our territory is attacked, we must repel the aggressor with all the forces at our command," declared M. Skoeld, Swedish Minister of Defence, speaking at Upsala last night.

M. Skoeld added that if anyone threatened their independence, they would take up arms and defend themselves to the best of their ability. As long as the great powers of Europe were engaged in a struggle to death, Sweden's destiny remained uncertain, At any moment, he said, new serious danger might arise, and they must always be ready.

Sweden was a small country, and the means at their disposal did not permit them to indulge in threats. Consequently they must seek their independence in a policy of neutrality, which was based upon a respect of Sweden's legal rights and which treated belligerents in an impartial manner.—Reuter. bona Promotion for Two Air Commodores
