Deaths through accidents during the holiday period beginning on Saturday reached a total of 234 today, police reported. More than half of the deaths were caused in highway accidents—United Press, Davi Thomas Smith, 21 years old recruit to the 7th Queen's Regiment Territorials on April 15, almost upset the depot's organization when applying at Walworth. He is 6 ft. 1l ins. in height The official measuring stand at the depot however, is only 6 ft. 6 ins, so Smith was finally measured against the wall while a corporal stood on a ladder to make the mark. His uniform will, of course, have to be specially made.
