Ten Million Aluminium Coins Being Distributed Another consignment of 10,000,000 one-cent and five-cent aluminium Coins minted by the Shanghai Bankers Association under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance at Chungking has arrived in Shanghai. The new coins worth about $300,000 are being distributed to various Chinese and foreign banks for circulation and not to small exchange merchants as it is feared that they may consider the coins as objects of profiteering.
Some time ago, the first consignment of new coins of the same value reached here and distributed in the same manner. All those who want to use new coins must communicate with the banks first. It is learned that the third consignment will reach here a week hence while another 10,000,000 coins is being minted. Altogether four consignments of the new coins are expected to arrive in Shanghai.
