Been to a splendid all round performance by Hart-Baker and some brilliant catching by Symons, the S.R.C. Tyros opened their 1939 league engagements with a good win against the S.C.C. Wanderers yesterday afternoon on the former's ground. The Tyros scored 158, of which Hart-Baker claimed 84, and then retired their opponents for 121, the last six wickets falling while only 23 runs were added.
Hart-Baker dominated the Tyro's innings, only he, Pettit and Madar returning double figures, ti he other players being completely off form. The first two named opened the innings and put on 46 before Madar was sent back.
Ollerdessen kept his end up until 81, but after that a mild rot set in until Pettit arrived at the fall of the eighth wicket. Hitting out strongly he scored one six and three fours in his 29 which helped considerably to avert a thorough collapse.
