Cancelled Tattoo

"What are being altered are vai ous military functions. The Aldershot Tattoo is coming off as usual, but the Tattoo at Tidworth has been cancelled. There is considerable regret at this, not merely because of the loss of a popular spectacle which helped to increase public interest in the Force, but because Service chan: ties which have benefited in previous years will not receive their contribution. So great, however, is the demand on the trained personnel and equipment of the Army in present circumstances that the War Office decision must be considered inevitable. Similar reasons have led to the cancellation of the 900-mile tour by a mechanized column of the principal centres from Cardiff to the Tyne, which had as its main object the stimulation of recruiting.

The Army Week at Bisley. has also been abandoned. The National Rifle Association will hold their meeting on the Bisley ranges from July 10 to July 22, but the programme may have to be reduced because the Army men who usually act as ranger officers, register keepers and makers cannot be spared.

Of course the usual O.T.C. camps have disappeared.
