Games from St. Moritz

Switzerland Adamant Over Inclusion of Skiing London, June 8.

The principal topic on the programme of today's meeting of the International Olympic Committee was ihe 5th Olympic Winter Games and the position that skiing competitions will enjoy on the programme.

Switzerland, which will present the winter games of 1940 at St. Moritz, has declined to include skiing as a demonstration competition.

This announcement from the Swiss Olympic Committee is received with mixed feelings. Although the Swiss position as regards skiing was clearly stated, it was nevertheless decided to give the Swiss delegate the opportunity of conferring with the Swiss Olympic Committee.

Switzerland will have until noon tomorrow to reverse her decision, but it is believed that should that country continue to refuse to include skiing in the Olympic programme except as a regular competition, the Olympic winter games will be withdrawn from St. Moritz and awarded io another country.

It was further decided at the meeting to included bobsleigh racing with two and four man bobs, in the Olympic programme.
