London, Mar. 18.
Lord dela Warr, the Lord Privy Seal, speaking on the international outlook to-day, said that after the recent events in Austria, no one felt that the policy of continued discussion with Germany was practical politics for the time being.
Every rule of conduct and of humanity, he said, had been defied and trampled on by the iron heel of a regime that saw no argument but that of force.
The Minister added that the recent speech of the Foreign Secretary (Lord Halifax) in the House of Lords made it clear that he had been driven to the conclusion that the cause of peace to-day demanded firmness.as well as appeasement. Wireless through Reuter.
