Referring to the situation in Chekiang province, the Chinese military spokesman made the following statement:
"Anchi, an important city between Changhsing and Hsiaofeng, was captured by Japanese forces, but after severe fighting yesterday, the city was recaptured by Chinese troops, who inflicted heavy losses on the Japanese.
"The opposing forces are now entrenched in a village north of Anchi. Szean and Kwangteh are in our hands, despite the repeated attempts at their capture by the Japanese. A Japanese column, comprising from 300 to 400 men, stationed at Hungchiaocheng village, between Hsuan-chen and Kwangteh, has been dispersed after being encircled by Chinese troops," the spokesman concluded.
