A Problem in China

"There are missionaries in China," continued Mr. Hudspeth, "who would like to do for the Chinese children what Anne Sullivan did for Helen Keller. Yet, although in other lands this problem has been largely solved, in China there are still hundreds of thousands' of Chinese blind still in the bonds of their affliction. The poignancy of the deprivation of sight," he concluded, "comes home to us, like a stab of pain when we read that among the things Helen and Kelley would ask to see, could the miracle of sight be granted her for one day, are: the glory of a sunset sky, the glow of love in the face of a friend, and the hint of heaven in the eyes of a chile."
