To the Editor of the "NomrH-CHiNA Dairy News"
Si—In order to avoid any confusion may I say that my appeal of June 18 was made for the Emigrants' Hospital which is already in existence at 708 Washing Road This hospital has now accommodation for 50 patients and I appealed for the modest (2) sum of $50,000
1 order to make an addition of 200 beds possible.
Incidentally, the public will be interested to know that our hospital and ambulances are run on exceedingly low overhead expenses. The services of the staff are voluntary and not paid for. Each person employed, whether doctor, nurse or in some other capacity receives $60 per month. from which amount living expenses must be found The all-in cost per patient in the Hospital has averaged $250 per day and this includes cost of medicines, attendance, food, bed, etc., etc.
I sincerely hope that my appeal, in spite of the difficult times, will prove successful. A. very contribution of $1,000 has been received, in the meantime. from the National Christian Council and Mz. and Mrs. Cohen-Notrica have sent me $500. There have been additional smaller, none the less valuable contributions, and one might fittingly say, in this connection, that "every little bit, added to what you've got, makes a little bit more."
Sir Robert K. Douglas, one of the foremost authorities, in his "Life of Genghis Khan" says Shanghai, June 22.
