Highway robbers who ordinarily may find it lucrative to rob passengers on No, 1 Line buses, did not fare too well last night when two out of three concerned in one of the cases were apprehended and are now being questioned, The bus was proceeding along Bubbling Well Road near Hart Road when one of the passengers was threatened by three men, all unarmed, who were sitting near him.
He handed over $133, all the money he had, and was bothered no more. At the Seymour Road stop, he saw how the three men left the vehicle, and without arousing suspicion, he followed them until he was conveniently near to a policeman to raise an alarm, with the result that two of the men were nabbed and $110 were recovered.
The men were taken to Bubbling Well police station and will face the First Special District Court this morning.
In the other case to have occurred on Line No. 1 last night, three men, one believed to have been armed, approached a passenger between Yates and Mohawk Road and forced him to hend over a gold ring. They managed to make their getaway. Both affairs occurred between 9.50 and 10.10 p.m.
