Topsy-tury Form Brings Headaches; Aston Villa Shock Supporters

Football is a game of surprises and the antics of the various clubs often reduce the punter to a state bordering on complete insanity especially when he discovers that the much-vaunted home team which, in his opinion, could not -possibly lose, has not only Jost but has ruined also hi chance of netting a tidy sum from the promoter of one of the countless football pools conducted throughout the world.

There were many such punters yesterday cursing their luck in having backed Aston Villa to beat Derby County. No one, judging by recent form, would have conceded the County any chance of winning, especially after the Villa's away win at Grimsby last week, but the Derby side did win and bang went mai forecasts. A slip like this might prove very costly to the Villa, who are making special efforts to reach the height of their former glory in the Football League.

Derby, too, are a queer side. Last week they only just managed to share the honours of their hame game with the' Wolves, and yet they go io Villa Park and steal the Birmingham side's glory. It's a nerve-racking game this football!
