Disavows Plan

For Secession

"The Times" Proposal Causes Stir, Decried London, Sept. 8.

The suggestion made in a leader in "The Times" yesterday, regarding the secession of the Sudeten districts as a possible solution of the Czech problem, in no way represents the views of the British Government, it is officially stated here today.

"The Times" suggestion is condemned by the other morning newspapers, today.

The "Daily Telegraph," for example, describes it as a sinister blow at the chances for a settlement, which will encourage the intransigence of the Sudetens and embarrass the Czechoslovak Government. Thus it would make infinitely more difficult the delicate task of Viscount Runciman and encourage German resistance to every effort at a settlement.
