Japanese Near Kwangchow

Drive in South-east Honan Makes Progress; Fierce Fighting on Tehan Highway

JAPANESE detachment leading the drive against Kwangchow in south-eastern Honan captured Sanpingssu, twelve metres east of Kwangchow, after severe fighting yesterday according to a Domei dispatch from the front last night:

Sanpingssu was described as the most important Chines defence point on the road to Kwangchow and its capture put Japanese in an advantageous position for an immediate mas assault on the main objective, military observers said.
