Washington, Sept. 27.
Far Eastern military experts speculated today on the consequences in the Pacific of a possible general war in Europe and reached the cot clusion that Japan would refrain from active participation as long as the United States remained aloof.
Experts inferred that the United States would be unlikely to become involved in war unless its interests were contravened but any possible deployment of naval forees in the Pacific against Great Britain would automatically endanger America's maritime route to the Netherlands East Indies as well as placing the Philippine Islands in a "naval vacuum."
Military authorities believe Japan's principle function in any possible war would be to check the United States as, from the military viewpoint, the United States would be unáble to remove the main body of its feet from the Pacific if Japan were to become an active combatant.—United Press.
