Yacht in 1933
M. Andrej Bohomolec, new Polish Acting Consul-General in Shanghai and the first secretary of the Polish Legation in China, arrives today at about 2 p.m. in the s. Hoten Maru which he boarded in Dairen after having crossed the U.S.S.R. by rail.
The diplomat has been transferred io the present position from a similar post in the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is replacing Dr. Jean Krysinski, who leaves shortly to take up a new post in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw.
A distinguished sportsman, M. A Bohomolec made a historical trans-Atlantic voyage in a small yacht "Dahl" from Gdynia to New York in 1933. Accompanied by two companions, he sailed the vessel across the ocean to enter her on behalf of the Polish Yacht Club in the yacht race held during the Chicago World Fair.
The dauntless trio made a success: ful crossing of the Atlantic but were caught in a severe cyclone off Bahamas which nearly brought their journey to an end. One of the com. panions sustained injuries in the storm, while M. Bohomolec and the remaining member of the expedition successfully completed the hazardous voyage and attended the Chicago World Fair, where they won high honours in the international yacht race.
