He. planned. closer union in Europe which was commonly called "The United States of Europe" fatter the appellation of the "United States of America." Unfortunately his was not taken into due consideration by the European states men. -As it is, had his plan been adopted before' 1914, Furope might have been saved from the most dis-Jastrous human slaughtering in history, Briand thought that Europe could only enjoy prosperity and security, by evolving itself unit as is exemplified by the original thirteen independent states of Amferica, It was a pity that his sugiestions' were poohpoohed as a mere 'Utopia, "Later, however, the French statesman's sagacious ideas found followers in practical polities, In Europe the Sarraut Government of France suggested regional ententes in' Europe under the—supervision of a European commission, This suggestion was considered more practical than the "United States of Europe" plan of M. Briand, but it wag destined to failure, and European unrest is rushing to its ultimate fate, namely, the second European Another follower of M. The JapansManchoukuo-China bloc which will just be the nucleus of the United Sates of Asia }does not mean monopoly by the bloc of the Asiatic continent to the exclusion of the third powers, whose interests will not only be protected, but augmented by the permanent establishment of pence and order in the Orient, your correspondent says, the union of the two countries on his enumerated terms may save the two faces, but let me add one more vital item, 0, the resignation of Chiang Kat-shek from. the hi post of dictatorship, otherwise Japan face wil not be saved, (A Japanese Free Lance)
