Foreigners Warned; Many

Fleeing City

Hankow, Oct 24

"There is a possibility that a large EL number of buildings will be demolished in Hankow in the near future," declares a warning issued by the Foreign Residents' Association today to the local press.

Foreigners are advised to take all reasonable precaution, although it is believed that foreigners are unlikely to be involved, as ample warning is being given to those living alongside dangerous buildings.

The streets of Hankow are unprecedentedly crowded with refugees carrying bundles and belongings.

In view of the fact that the ranks of the police in Special Administration Districts One and Two have been depleted by defections, it is feared that untoward incidents may occur.

To cope with any possible disturbance, civilian volunteers are being mobilized tonight or tomorrow to bolster the morale of the remaining Chinese police.

French volunteers are also being mobilized. They are being fitted with gas masks.—Reuter.
