Mr. Hu Shi-yuan, a well known Chinese business man in Shanghai, has mysteriously disappeared from the sight of his relatives and friends here. Reports published by the leading Chinese dailies here indicate that the disappearance of Mr. Hu may have political significance, since he recently received a mysterious letter asking him to do business somewhere else, According to the "Notional Herald" the letter received by Mr. Hu from "certain quarters" on August 7 asked him to go to a place to establish a bank with a capital of $100,000. He may also go there to hold a position, the letter is quoted zs saying. Mr. Hu is said to be very much surprised i Since August Hu's friends and relatives have not been able to locate him. The are anxious to know his fate as they had not been told by Mr. Hu that he was leaving Shanghai.
Mr. Hu is manager of a Chinese electric supply company at 492 Peking Road which specializes in mak: ing a number of electric articles. He established the firm more than 10 years ago.
