Women Organizations Petition Congress Washington, Nov. 12. Five American women's organizations today sent letters to members of. the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, asking that the next session of Congress, acting through these Committees, consider revision of the United States Neutrality Act.
The organizations sending the letters included the American Association of University Women, the National, Board of the Young Women's Christian Association, the National Council of Jewish Women, the National League of Women Voters and the National Women's Trade Union League.
The organizations asked revision of the act in order Yo make its application more flexible, enable the United States, in the event of war, to control essential war trade with the belligerents, and to ce-operate with other nations in attempts to prevent and stop wars carried on in violation of mutual treaty obligations.
The petitions presage another attempt to get Congress to revise the Neutrality Act this coming session along similar lines to those proposed in the last session, giving the President more power in applying the provisions of the Act itself—United Press, Silver Quotations Air Service to Link London, Nov. 12.
