Cooperating closely with Japanese bluejackets and army units, Japanese naval planes yesterday, both morning, and afternoon, reconnoitred and bombed positions in the Anking sector: in south-western Anhwei, the press section of the Japanese Central China Seas Fleet announced this morning.
Japanese naval aircraft, the announcement said, gave effective asistanee to Japanese army units and bluejackets who smashed their way into Lianchen on the Yangtze bank approximately 30 miles below Anking.
Naval planes went on to bomb and destroy positions at Kaichengkiao, north of Lianchen, the communique said. It was added that machine gun posts between Siashihpei and Shangsshihpei, 15 miles above Anking were raided and heavy damage inflicted Domei.
