Out for Junk Trip — Halliburton Adventure to

"Cure Sea-Sickness'

Manila, Nov. 23.

Two American youths arrived here today on the Philippine Clipper en route to Hongkong where they will join! the crew of Mr. Richard Halliburton and sail to San Francisco on his junk.

The young Americans are Mr. John Potter, 24-year-old graduate of Dartmouth University and a resident of New York, and Mr. Robert Chase, 22-year-old youth from Milton, Mass. Mr. Chase also graduated from Dartmouth last June.

They will form part of the crew which is to sail Mr. Halliburton's junk across the Pacific in effort to arrive at San Francisco in time for the opening of the World's Fair there early next year. Mr. Halliburton is a well-known author of adventure ston Mr. Potter said that he was undertaking the trip on the junk to "get the wanderlust out of my system." His companion revealed that he had always been subject to sea-sickness and that doctors had advised him that a long sea trip might cure him "I either will get over it or become so used to sea-sickness that it will not make any difference," Mr. Chase said. He also said that his father had offered to wager him US$10 for every-day that he was not sea-sick, but he turned down the bet.
