Weapon Production Sir Thomas Inskip Minister for

Ca-ordination of Defence, speaking at a dinner here said that "Britons are in great danger of thinking that the whole purpose of their existence and tional policy must be the production of weapons of war to defend themselves from aggression.

"That is of course supremely important, but it is even more important that we should use these powers of defence rightly to improve and develop the community, which can enjoy the arts of peace, on which ultimately the happiness of the human race must depend."

Sir Thomas told how he suffers in his office from the conscientiousness of designers, who are continually seeking to produce more nearly perfect weapons.

"When I ask for the earliest possible production of a weapon, I am told that a most ingenious young gentleman hes thought of something even better than that already invented.

"One design follows another until the better is enemy of the good, and until some ruthless Phillistine puts his foot down and demands production even ct the expense of design."—Reuter and Wireless.
