Sixty Wears Hgo

From THe "Norta-Cuma Dany News" or NOVEMBER 28, 1878

From Amoy:—The "Gazette" in briefly noticing a ball given on the 19th instant, Says the annals of the ball-room may be searched in vain for a more complete success than has to be recorded in favour of the pleasant dance given last evening in the Amoy Theatre by some of the bachelors at this port. The Committee deserve the highest praise for the tasteful decorations and capital general arrangements, while all thanks are due to the performers at the piano and cornet who contributed so materially to the full enjoyment of the entertainment. From one point of view it is unfortunate that such an enjoyable soiree should come at the beginning of a festive season, since it is difficult to believe that such a pleasant evening can easily be equalled, still less surpassed.
