Slow Game at "Race Course Shortened by Delays In a quarter-of-an-hour each way rugger game at the Race Course yesterday afternoon a mixed Club and Service side held a useful Police XV to a draw, each team scoring a converted try. The play never reached a high level, kick and rush tactics being the order of the day, and although the heavy Police forwards held a distinct advantage in the pack they were not so good elsewhere, only Webb and Cockburn showing up at all well among the newcomers to the law fifteen.
As a result of delay on the part of the Service players in reaching the 3 field, the game, scheduled to begin at 2.15 p.m. did not start until 35 minutes later, with the result that both halves had to be cut short to permit the Club and Services' second sides to begin their match at 3.30 p.m.
