Paris, Dee. 4

The French Government has made the first move in an effort to break the French shipping strike movement, which has hitherto resulted in the tying-up of the crack liners Normandie, Paris and Ile de France.

M. Louis de Chappedelaine, Minister of the Merchant Marine, today authorized the dismissal of the strikers at Lo Havre, as proposed by the Compagnie Generale Trans-Atlantique, ihe owners of the three big vessels.

Interviewed regarding the strike movement, M. Chappedelaine said that "it is inadmissible that such incidents should be renewed periodic cally on board ships of subsidized companies. I refuse," he added, "to withdraw the measures I have taken. I deem it my duty to establish on board our great liners order, discipline and respect for authority."

The steamer Desirade, according to an official announcement by the Ministry of Merchant Marine, left Lo Havre last night without incident. It is thought that the dockers on strike at Dieppe may return to work on Monday.
