Rest of England Held to Draw

Beattie Goes Over to Tie Score in Last Period for Rest of Scotland

Playing a spirited game of rugger in the second half after being six points down at the interval, the Rest Of Scotland XV at the Race Course yesterday, went about their work in a far more determined manner than their opponents and, utilizing their Chances, garnered two tries to equal the score made by the Rest of England in the first session. The result, a goal and two tries (eleven points) each was about a proper indication of the run of the play, although the English may be considered a trifle unlucky in not having secured a greater early lead after having had much more of the play than their opponents.

The match never rose to great heights and good passing movements, especially where the Scottish were concerned, were few and far between end as the game" progressed, foot-rushes and mauls predominated. The tackling, however, of both sides, was consistently good and many a promising movement was nipped in the bud. Burford, Sayle, Read and Mills: showed up well for England with Blackwood, Laird, Veasey and Beattie doing well for their rivals.
