Police Surround Building

With the assistance of the Reserve Unit, the police flung a cordon around the hotel, guarding all exits and streets and permitting no one to enter or leave the area. An intensive search, however, had resulted in no arrests early this morning, one or two suspects who were brought into the station being subsequently released. Two of these were a couple of unfortunates who had got into a fight on their own, the subsequent flow of blood bringing suspicion on them, The four wounded men were rushed to hospital, where their wounds, though pronounced serious, were not expected to prove fatal. The police cordon was not withdrawn until after midnight and after it had deemed highly likely the criminals had escaped just before the police arrived.
