On Annjyersary — Manchuria Incident to Be

There will be no meetings held even in the interior of "free China"

in commemoration of the anniversary of the Manchurian Incident, because Chungking, in a previous order, has declared that all the national humiliation days are to be commemorated jointly on July 7, on which the present Sino-Japanese hostilities broke out more that three yeas ago in Lukaochiao' in" the north. To carry out the order, no separate commemoration meetings have been' held in connection with either the Manchurian' Incident or the August 13 Incident.

Owing to the changed situation, Chinese in Shanghai have not held any' commemoration meetings in connection with national humiliation days since the withdrawal of Kuomintang officials and. troops from this city. It is learned, therefore, that today the Chinese will not hold any meeting here. While outwardly their expressions of patriotic feelings are thus absent, they are urged by the Chinese press to remain spiritually loyal to their country's policy. A three-minute silence will be observed by the Chinese today at noon to commemorate the death of Chinese soldiers and refugees.
