The presence of Yurieff told when, after losing the first goal, the United forwards began to click and passed in and out of the service men's citadel.
Veir on the right wing crossed over two sendings. In the 15th minute Waldman equalized through fine individual effort. He dribbled the ball from left to right and, crossing the circle, drove straight into the corner of the net.
With the score tied, the game grew to be more interesting. The soldiers seemed to have an edge for they kept the ball in the opponents half of the field most of the time. But lack of finish prevented them from giving Jones any work in goal.
In a fast break in the 25th minute Murray streaked through and scored with an clique shot.
Towards the close of the period Sgt. Lo Clair saved a certain goal from Waldman at the expense of a penalty bully. Short passing between Kermani and Murray drew Goalkeeper Ambler out of his charge. Before the latter could return to his post Kermani slipped the ball to Waldman and the latter fired. Lo Clair quickly covered the goal and Kicked the ball away to be charged with a violation of rules.
After the interval the East Surreys again attacked, The three inside forwards were very quick and had the United backs almost beaten on two occasions. Two abortive corners were made by Pate and Collaco. Jones;-however, still had nothing to do between the posts.
Towards the middle of the half Kermani come into the lime-light. He and Waldman combined to such an extent that the soldiers' defence was ripped wide open for Kermani to increase the lead to 3-1. In less than seven minutes Murray tallied his second goal through individual efforts to wind up the game at 4-1.
