Call to Pagan Ways

No nation on earth has a right to celebrate Christmas in such a spirit of community as Germany, states the "Schwartze Korps," the organ of Herr Hitler's Black Guards, today, "We celebrated it amid crackling logs before any Celtic missionary, announcing a foreign message of salvation, had trodden the sell of Germania. We celebrated it in lonely—farmsteads and in forgotten valleys when the spies of love one's neighbour' doctrine threatened everyone who held on to Pagan customs."

Atter recalling the fact that the pagan celebration of the winter solstice is centuries older than Christianity, the paper commiserates with Germans who have taken wives abroad, "among people whose appointed High Priests take great pleasure in declaring that they are much more pious and much more Christian than the Germans.

"Their Christmas symbol is the mistletoe, which is very bizarre and striking but which feeds on the sap of other trees, whereas the German Christmas resembles the fir tree, the slenderest and straightest of trees, deep-rooted and rising to a single point towards the sky."

The paber'concludes its article by exhorting the German people to show an ever increased national spirit of community as "never in history, has the Nation been so insulted and slandered in morals and sentiments as in 1938, not only by defeated political opponents, but by so-called representatives and. deputies of that Saviour, whose birthday they claim to celebrate.—Reuter.
