Play was transferred to the other end where Van, taking a long shot at goal placed behind, doing the same thing immediately afterwards. The half backs of both sides were supporting their forwards strongly, and special mention must be made of "Paddy" McAloon who was a verity able tower of strength to the foreign eleven. In an interesting heading bout on the Chinese right wing the ball came to Tai, who standing right in front of goal headed into the ever alert Atkinson's arms.
Play changed from end to end very repidiy and thrill followed thrill as each team came within an ace of scoring, Fraser shooting at Chow at one end and Chie at the other and mis-kicking practically on the goal-line. The Chinese team were the first to score through Tai their centre-forward who, meeting a lovely cross from Chia made no mistake with a very good header to beat Atkinson.
Dribbling up the field McAloon was responsible for the best shot of the match up to this point, testing Chow with a great shot from 30 yards or so the Foreign team pressed for a time but their shooting was very weak at his period, again and again forcing their way into their opponents' goalmouth but being unable to get in a clean shot at goal.
