Japanese Destroyer Seen in Tow

Chinese reports of the bombing of Japanese warships in the Yangtze Would appedt tv be partially confirmed by iriformation given to the "North-China Daily News" yesterday by a local Briton returning from a trip. He told this journal that off Woosung ön Mohday he saw a badly-crippled—Japánése destroyer being towed down river.

Amiüships, a large canvas awning attempted to conceal a hüge hole; the effects of what appeared to be the explosion of an incendiary bomb could be clearly seen in the "scorching" vf the metal works around the edge of the canvas. The destroyer was definitely hors de combat and appeared to be barely able to keep afloat.

Also seen was a fairly large Japanese transport vessel, proceeding up-river with a number of motorized fishing smacks—of the type the Japanese have found useful for crossing booms and proceeding up creeks—slung amidships.
