Dual Search Parties

On "Qutside" Roads

The only outstanding features in yesterday's precautions were the dual search-parties ative on the "outside" Settlement Roads when not only $.M.P. parties but also those of the "Special Municipality" police searched all pedestrians including tram and bus passengers who thus underwent two searches, one succeeding the other. The "Special Municipality" parties were under the command of N.C.O.s of the Japanese Gendarmerie and those actually taking part in the searches carried high-powered Mauser pistols while others were armed with rifles.
