Chungking's Celebrations

Chungking, Oct. 10.

The entire population turned out today in a festive mood to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Republic 28 years ago. The city was gaily beflagged and all Government, Party and military ofices were elaborately decorated, while the brilliant sunshine and warm weather brought out huge crowds to join the mass meetings and parades.

Streets were particularly crowded tonight when hundreds of thousands lined the main avenues to watch the torchlight procession.

Much laughter was created by the sight of the "Traiters of the Nation" costume parade, which included an effigy of Mr. Wang Ching-wei, deposed Kuomintang deputy.—Reuter.
