We are told that he "passeth by". He passeth over the transgressions of his people. The Prophet is using a figure familiar to those for whom he is writing. It is a figure of Egypt and the deliverance, as on that night so long ago, the Angel of the Lord passed over the houses where the blood had been sprinkled on the door posts and the lintel. So will God bags over the sins of his people. It ought not to be difficult for us to understand what "passing over" means; for most of us have occasion Rome, Italy.—19.00 to 2130 and 23.00 to 00.20, 25.4m.

A mother must pass over many things, see many things which she pretends not to see. What friends would we keep if they kept a record of our weaknesses and short-comings. Happily those who love us best, learn to pasą over many things and forget them. The blessed Lord sets his seal of approval upon the prophets teaching. We learn our God is indeed gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness. We learn that he is far quicker to discern the good than to fix his eye upon the evil, that he has a far greater delight in looking upon faith's earnest endeavours, than upon faith's failures and weaknesses. We learn that He is ever ready to forgive and. forget where there is true repentance, that he hears the faintest prayer/ and sees the weakest striving "and longing for a better life, And then the Prophet saw him as a God who when he forgives, does so with a marvellous completeness. His forgiveness is once and for all, complete and forever. "He retaineth "not his anger." When he has once put it from him, he never calls it back. There is no reviving of the old grievance, no unearthing of things once buried. There*is a beautiful thought illustrating the completeness ci God's forgiveness in the closing words of our text. "Thou wilt cast all our sins into the depths of the sea." The prophet was thinking of the Mediterranean Sea which has no tides. The dead and corrupt things which are thrown into the depth of that sea are never brought up again. manner the forgiven sins 13.00 Methodist religious service (D).
