Herr yon Ribbentrop Claims War Imposed on Reich; Mr. Chamberlain Said to Have Broken Munich Pact; Germany to Carry Through Fight Danzig, Oct. 25.
FIERY attack against Great Britain, whom he accused of having prepared systematically and secretly for years for the present war against Germany, was made by Herr Joachim von Ribbentrop, the German Foreign Minister, in a speech to a big demonstration here last night. Mr. Neville Chamberlain did not come to Munich in order to prevent war, he declared, but to postpone the war the British Government had decided upon.
"This war," he added, "has, in the truest sense of the word, been imposed on Germany"
In his speech, which was broadcast by all German stations and then sent.out to the world in many foreign translations, Herr von Ribbentrop referred to the restoration of the "traditional friendly relations" between Germany and Russia, said Germany had no interests on the American continent, and asserted that Danzig would never again be separated from the Reich. Dealing with the German-Polish negotiations over Danzig, he said: "The astonishing attitude of Poland to Herr Hitler's magnificent, unrepeatable offer seemed remarkable to me. Today we have the answer to the riddle—England was behind it. We know today that already at that time, negotiations for a guarantee were on foot with England."
