London, Feb. 9.

It'is understood that the British Ambassador in Rome, Lord Perth, has received renewed assurances that the recent Italian press comment has no bearing on the undertakings regarding the withdrawal of Italian troops serving in Spain given by the Italian Government in the Rome Agreements of last April.

According to information now received from the Italian Government, the numerical strength of the Italian forces in Libya is between 30,000 and $2,000; said Mr. Neville Chamberlain, the Prime Minister, in the House of Commons yesterday in answer to Mr. Atthur Henderson, Labour member for the Kingswinford division of Staffordshire. No answer was given to the question whether any information had been received "about German troops which had been sent to Libya recently."

Sir Archibald Sinclair, Liberal member for Caithness and Sutherland, asked if the reduction of Italian troops had been at the rate of 1,- weekly, in accordance with the provisions of the British-Italian agreement Mr, Chamberlain said he could not answer the question without notice.
