Suffering The European conflict has. seriously crippled the export of "lung ching," or literally "dragon well" the famous tea produced in Chekiang and in view of the fact that British and French merchants are no longer purchasing this tea, Chinese shops in have stepped buying the same from Hanchow, according to a Chinese report.
In Shanghai only some American export merchants buy this tea but its export has decreased to such an extent that the price of this much liked tea has dropped considerably. This year, only about 15,00 piculs of Lungching tea have been transported to Shanghai from Hanchow any Yuyeo. Although the production has decreased it was at first much more highly priced than before, being sold at $100 per picul.
Prior to the war, the annual production in Chekiang of this tea which in China is bought by only the rich and well-to-do people amounted to about 100,000 piculs, most of which were exported to foreign countries.
