Washington, Sept. 6.
Ofcial and private authorities were impressed here today by the interview granted Mr. John R. Morris of the United Press by Prince Fumimaro Konoye, Japanese Premier, because of the friendly feeling shown toward the United States and because it appeared to refute the widespread rumours that Japan intends to abandon her China campaign after the capture of Hankow.
Officials here refused to make formal comment, however, on the grounds that the interview was an unofficial exposition' of Japan's position.—United Press.
